hi.
anyway lets talk more music. Today I discovered Steven Spacek. Do you know him? Raise your hand if you do. hmmm... Hi, Iman. I know you do. Can you put your hand down? Give somebody else a chance. Anybody else. No?
ok well.
I was listening to Giles Peterson BBC Radio tonight(if you haven't done so in your life, I think you should. I mean, there is only so much Nelly "Grillz" you can listen to) and he was playing the top 20 tracks worldwide of 2005. Alot of them were gems. Number two was a track by the aforementioned Steven Spacek entitled "Dollar". It was produced by J Dilla, the super producer himself (haha educate yourself). And, the track seems to play a sample skipping on EEEEEEEEEEEEE. I think some people will find it annoying, but I think it works. It's so soulful, gritty, and beautiful. His voice wraps around this bass heavy beat so lovely. I..um..came across more of his songs through um....a friend...and his sound is so eclectic. It almost has this euro-electric feel to it. I think he is English. Whatever the case, his sound is great. Steven Spacek. If you know more about him, please school me.
oh lets go back. If Steven Spacek was number 2, on the top 20 tracks WORLDWIDE. who the heck was number 1?
i'll give u a hint.
i told u last time she had the unarguable hit of this past summer.
yes yes yes.
Amerie "One Thing". Number 1 song WORLDWIDE of 2005. Need I say more? Next up: Grammy.

Today, I watched my mustache grow.
Tommorow, I will take pictures in the vein of "Religion in Newark". Ever since I shot the Irvington pictures and someone said I lived in a third world country, I have been looking at my environment around me more critically. Along with the liquor stores, laundromats, and chinese joints, there is a huge prescence of religion. I have seen murals, mosques, churches, graffiti all that reference God in some way. It comes as no surprise though. Religion has always been a staple within the Black community. So, I want to highlight that tommorow.
(Oh by the way, I'm on vacation for my job. haha. That's why I have had so much free time lately.)
