RHCP

The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

As some of you know, RHCP came out with their new double disk effort, "Stadium Arcadium" The album is executive produced by Mr. Rick Rubin. mmmm tasty. So you know I scowered CT for this album.

Lemme back up and explain my love for RHCP. Whats a mofo from Irvington, NJ doing liking RHCP!?!?

Well, in some shape, form, or fashion, RHCP has been involved in key memories in my life. I was introduced to RHCP my sophomore year in high school when the mega large "Californication" album came out. I was on the varisty wrestling team and some of my teammates used to bump this during practice. At first, I was like what is this white boy shit. But it grew on me. Our head coach hateeeed them, but these mofos played it all the time...during practice, on the bus rides to and from matches...everydamnwhere, when i was getting my ass beat in practice. I started to know all the words, especially "Otherside"

how lonng how longgggg will i sliiiiiiiiiide?

Good question, Anthony! During the time, I was in my very first REAL relationship. It was so tough, but she was so damn hard to read. Couple that with both of us being young...it was a real troublesome ordeal. Anthony's question on "Otherside" used to haunt me at night. We ended up breaking up, and I wrote the words down to "Otherside" in my journal. I started to realize... I have no clue what this song is about!

Fast forward to college... One time freshmen year, I was in my dorm room and the door was ajar. "Porcelian" came on and I started singing it LOUD. I turned around and this really pretty girl was staring at me. Talk about embarrased! But I'm cool with it..I just kept singing and acted like I was singing to her. She looked terrified. lol.

"By the Way", their followup to the uber successful "Californication" came out the summer of my sophomore year in college. I was single. I finally had a car. My sister was away in a summer program. I was chilllllin, playing "By the Way" in the hood. lol. I went to my sister's program and I noticed this semi tall, skinny, long haired Mary Jane candy woman. She happened to be my sister's RA. She was soooo attractive. So I did something I hardly ever did: I walked up to her and introduced myself. Till this day, I am always shocked that I did that. Because if you knew me, I am not the type to do things like that. Im shy at times. So we exchanged....AIM screennames.. lol...and we hung out! She was so fine. I didnt even know how to handle it. lol. And she was so smart. sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I swear to you..one time she flicked her hair and it was in slow motion yo....just like the movies!! I swear. I just watched her like dayuuuuuum..

anyway, one time, after dinner, we were are driving around in my car, and I was like

...um do you like Red Hot Chili Peppers??
YES!!!
really? have you heard their new joint?
NO!
today's your lucky day...

And I popped that joint in and I remember it being such a nice evening. We rolled the windows and listened that smooth ass album! The wind was blowing. There were no clouds in the sky. She was in my passenger seat. It was truly perfect. Till this day when I listen to "By the Way", I think of her and that evening. sighhhh. She was sofine. What ever happened to that? hm...

Anyway..

So, I bought "Stadium Arcadium" today. I had to go to Danbury to find it because they didnt have it in this town. ("Um, the music man didn't...come yet. We're not sure when he will show up...i'm..um...sorry?") Could this be the trilogy? Could this be the third album in a row that provides a soundtrack to some formidable events. Let's see. So far, I'm enjoying the ride....
