touch myself.

**Thank you MM and "Laquasia" for last night. You both are beyond dope. Let's do that again soon.

Let's discuss Tweet's music career. Tweet's introduction into the solo music scene was her infectious ode to masturbation, "Oops". I remember first hearing this song and thinking- is she talking about what I think she is talking about. Yup (c) hov. Of course, the beat was another masterpiece from the Tim/Missy camp, but the subject matter had the "hold up, wait a minute" factor that made the song extremely catchy to horny teenagers and college students. Tweet was slowly creating a small buzz for her debut album. But little did we know, Tweet was pulling the wool over all of our eyes. While, her formal introduction was making niggas dance in the club, Tweet was something entirely different from all that. "Oops" doesn't sound like anything else on the "Southern Hummingbird" album. ""Southern Hummingbird" is, in fact, a display of a vulernable artist introducing herself to the world through acoustic guitars and smooth ass ballads. I feel like throughout the album she is showing us the scars on her hands, feet, sides as a human being searching for love. This is what makes this album fantastic. On cuts like "Smoking Cigarettes", she sings about how failed love drives her deeper into her addiction to nicotine. She says, "You're the one to help me quit smoking these cigarettes" She, later, notes she smokes "a pack a day" wondering where her love went. On the very next song, she tells her lover that throughout it all, she knows he will always love her. It works like a continutation of a conversation or thought.

Tweet's next single was "Call Me" which was used doubly for Verizon's ad campaign. Aiiight, Tweet getting that paper!!. "Call Me" is another club banger. I think Tim did the beat and it is another infectious, Indian-esque joint. Like "Oops", she is flaunting her sassy, confident side. Her video was a typical "video at the club" jawn. Little do people know! If you didn't pick up her album by then, you would be thinking her album is going to sound something like her first two singles. LoL. nope. Somewhere Tweet was laughing at you.

Now.. Am I saying that Tweet is the only person to show two faces (the album face and the "poker" i'm in the club face)? Hell no. It is a staple in hip hop culture. Jay-Z made a living doing that. But, if one never picked up Tweet's first album, you would have a one dimensional view of who she is. Nowadays, you hear the single from an artist, and more than likely, that's them. We were introduced to Ciara as a performer over hot beats. She came out with that slow song and it was ehh.... GO BACK TO DANCING! We were introduced to Rihanna with "pon de replay". She comes out with "Unfaithful" and she looks weird. These singers should be more like Tweet and just put out your party tracks. Don't try to show the public you 3D, cause we get confused. lol. Just fool the hell out of your listeners when they play your CD.

hmm. On second thought, Tweet actually was special to do that and some of these new cats are just um...

special.
